![]() Then breathe a nice sigh of relief that you are away from LastPass.Ī) Export to a CSV, be it known it has a bug and creates duplicates. ![]() Simply uninstalling the app on all of your devices doesn’t take care of that. You need to actually go into LastPass and, if you pay for it, make sure you disable auto renew and, in either event, go into your account settings and go through the process to actually have LastPass delete your vault and other information from their cloud system. Once you have changed all of your passwords and are comfortable with the new service, then don’t just simply uninstall LastPass. Leaving LastPass up gives you a second source to find that old password again if you have deleted your export file as you should have. However, in the new service, your old password was wiped out in favor of the new password. The site will then tell you to re-enter your old password again and choose a new password. This can lead to a situation where 1Password overwrites your old password with a new password that the site rejects because it for example doesn’t have the right special characters. In addition, while 1Password worked almost flawlessly, emphasis on “almost”, it has a weird flow where it saves the new password before the site on which you are changing the password actually accepts it. If your export is bad, your actual LastPass vault is your last chance to go back and look and find the data manually. Remember, the best practice is to delete irretrievably the export file after you import it into the new service. This is why it is important not to get rid of LastPass too quickly: your export file may be corrupted or missing items and you might not know it until you are in the new service trying to change passwords.
